Case Study of Dakshin Kannada
ESG conducted a year-long research exercise for the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific on "Integrating Environmental Considerations in Economic Policy Decision Making - A Case Study of Dakshina Kannada". This study reviewed major industrial and infrastructural developments in the environmentally and culturally unique coastal (undivided) Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka, especially in the context of the "globalisation" processes. A significant result of this study has been the review of the strengths and weaknesses of environmental decision making in India.
