Dear Mr. Jayaram Prasad,

As noted in our phone call yesterday afternoon, we once again experienced voltage fluctuations due to coconut tree branches not being properly pruned near our apartment. At around 11:25 am and at 3:45 pm, we the 400 V lines near our office short-circuited resulting in loud noises with electrical fires coming out of the overhead lines. The high voltage fluctuations from the short-circuit also resulted in loss of power.

We lost power again, similar to the incident on June 2nd 2003. Luckily for us, all our computers running on the UPS were not affected by this fluctuation. However, a printer, HP Laserjet 6L Pro worth Rs. 17,000, that was connected to the mainline was severely damaged. Its power supply is destroyed and we are sending it in for repairs. It is unfortunate that despite having surge protection, the voltage spike was so high that the printer was damaged.

We request a photocopy of the complaint register logbook dated November 3, 2003 and also want to know the actions BESCOM has taken to fix this problem.

I hope that BESCOM takes requisite action to ensure that such incidences will not occur again.
